The closure of airspace over central Israel led to the cancellation of many international flights. However, some carriers soon resumed operations, quickly restoring their routes.
Wizz Air was one of the first to return, resuming flights from Budapest and Bucharest. Fly Dubai and Etihad continued their flights without interruption, while Bulgaria Air resumed flights a day later. Goliv Air and Cordon Europe also returned to the Israeli market. Ethiopian Airlines operated the first flight from Addis Ababa on Sunday night, followed by Blue Bird and Tus Airways.
Air Europa continued its route between Madrid and Tel Aviv. It is expected that Air France and Aegean Airlines will resume flights on Tuesday, with British Airways following on Wednesday.
However, Iberia extended its flight cancellations until August 28, ITA plans to resume flights on September 3, and Lufthansa Group on September 2. Delta, American Airlines, EasyJet, Korean Air, and Cathay Pacific have postponed their return for several weeks or even months.
