Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced that Hashem Safieddine, a senior Hezbollah official and the likely successor to Hassan Nasrallah, was likely killed in a recent airstrike on Beirut. Gallant emphasized that Hezbollah has now been left without leaders, as both Nasrallah and his presumed heir, Safieddine, are no longer able to head the organization.

The minister explained that the elimination of Safieddine dealt a serious blow to Hezbollah’s capabilities. He pointed out that the remaining leadership is unable to effectively coordinate operations, significantly weakening the group. This operation has drawn attention across the region and, as Gallant stressed, has shifted the balance of power in the Middle East. Israel is confident that Iran understands the scale of the losses following the elimination of one of its key figures.
