The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have placed troops stationed along the Syrian border on high alert. These measures come in response to the collapse of Bashar al-Assad’s regime and potential attempts to infiltrate Israeli territory from Syria.

An official statement issued on December 8 emphasizes:
«In light of the developments in Syria and the likelihood of armed groups attempting to enter the buffer zone, the IDF has bolstered its presence in the area and at key defensive positions. This step is aimed at ensuring the security of settlements in the Golan Heights and protecting Israeli citizens. The IDF does not interfere in Syria’s internal affairs and will continue to act solely to maintain the security of the buffer zone and safeguard the State of Israel.»
