UNRWA reported that six of its staff members were killed on Wednesday during an airstrike on Al-Jaouni school in Nuseirat camp, where around 12,000 displaced people, mostly women and children, are taking shelter. This marks the largest loss of UNRWA staff in a single incident.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned the events in Gaza, calling them unacceptable. UNRWA head Philippe Lazzarini stated that 220 of the agency’s staff have been killed since the conflict began.
According to Gaza’s health ministry, 18 people were injured in the strike. The IDF stated that the target was a Hamas command center and emphasized that measures were taken to minimize civilian casualties.
