The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah should be resolved through diplomatic means rather than war, stated U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
In an interview with NBC, he noted that Israel has a real and legitimate issue, especially after the horrific events of October 7, when Hamas attacked southern Israel, and subsequently, Hezbollah joined the conflict, starting to fire rockets at Israel.
Blinken emphasized that residents of northern Israel had to leave their homes, and the retaliatory actions of the IDF also led to the evacuation of residents in southern Lebanon.
«Everyone wants a safe environment where people can return home and children can go back to school. That is what Israel strives for. The best way to achieve this is not through war and escalation, but through diplomatic agreement. While there is a legitimate issue here, we do not believe that war will be the solution,» he added.
Blinken also noted that Washington is working on a plan to de-escalate the situation.
